Heather (Bodey) Boggs ’12 attended Bethel for English Education with the goal of working in inner-city schools to teach her subject while being Christ to those who need it. Currently, she teaches at West Central Juvenile Rehabilitation Center, where all of her students come from difficult backgrounds. In order to become a student at WCJRC, a juvenile offender must be a male, with a felony, who is court-ordered to serve time there. It is a lock-down facility where Ohio counties send juvenile offenders with whom they don't know what else to do. This has opened up a very unique door for Heather as a teacher and a Christian. Her classes are made up of students who are anywhere from 12 to 20 years old, with different high school credit deficiencies, and she has to teach them all. The challenges come with reward, however, in that her students don't get the childhoods that children should have (they are forced to grow up quickly), but she gets to give them a taste of childhood. She has the freedom to be creative and think outside the box. She’s taken the boys Christmas caroling; they did a poetry slam/coffee shop, and even "published" books. She has also had the freedom to share her faith, when asked, and says that happens pretty often. Her job is a true challenge, but it is a huge blessing! Zachariah ’12 and Hannah (Hatch) Diller ’13 (4) have been missionaries with the Keystone Project for the past several years. A year ago they moved to South Dakota to work with Native Americans and International leaders. Kyle and Karen (Ulis) Greer ’13 (5) welcomed their son, Slate, in February 2019. Karen works as a Medicaid Waiver Case Manager and Kyle works for Foundation Building Materials as a drywall deliverer. Daniel ’14 and Tricia Heckard ’14 (6) are parents to Luke (age 3) and Isabel (7 months), and reside in Berne, Ind. Scott and Alexis (Ummel) Landis ’16 (7) welcomed Ella Ryan Landis on March 22, 2019. They reside in Goshen, Ind.
