Loucks, who died April 21, 2010. Paul was a graduate of Bethel Bible College and a member of Bethel Missionary Church. He served as Pastor of several missionary churches, including Koontz Lake, LaGrange, Nappanee, Bremen,
University of Iowa. From 1957 until 2008, Dr. Wes taught Bible, theology, and biblical languages at Fort Wayne Bible College and in Bethel’s graduate programs. He was given an honorary doctorate at Dr. Steve Cramer’s Bethel inauguration in 2004. A devoted Christ-follower and passionate scholar of the Bible, he was one of the original translators of the New International Version (NIV). Tony C. Hemminger ‘69 , age 74, of Elkhart, Ind., met his Lord and Savior on Aug. 21, 2019, at his home, surrounded by family. Tony was born on Oct. 14, 1944, in Elkhart. He married his sweetheart, Anne M. Ditmer, on Aug. 9, 1969, in Elkhart. Tony is survived by his wife of 50 years and three daughters. Tony was a proud 1962 graduate of Elkhart High School, where he played football, and was a 1969 Bethel College alumnus.
Phillip Arthur Bridges ’70 , age 76, passed away March 28, 2019. He was born Oct. 14, 1942 in Charlevoix, Mich. On June 21, 1969 in Odessa, Texas, he was married to the former Leona F. Short. Survivors include his wife and three sisters, Faith (Harold) Knight; Phyllis Robbins, and Joyce (Rob) Swartz. He was
for 40 years. His proudest accomplishments were being a dedicated, loving, and humorous husband, father, grandpa and friend. Marilyn J. Lightfoot ‘60 , age 85, passed away on March 31, 2019. Marilyn was born in Walkerton, Ind., and graduated from Lakeville High School. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in education from Bethel College and a master’s degree from University of Notre Dame. In September 1952, Marilyn married Richard Lightfoot and they went on to share 61 years together and raised two children. She was dedicated to their four grandchildren and adored by her eight great- grandchildren. Marilyn served as principal at Walkerton Elementary School from 1972- 2000. She loved her job and touched the lives of so many in those 28 years. She was loving and gracious to all who knew her, and her greatest love was her relationship with Jesus. She made it her mission in life to proclaim His word and share his love with everyone she could. Rev. Paul W. Loucks ‘53 , age 92, of Bristol, Ind., died March 27, 2019 at his home. He was born Oct. 9, 1926 in Elkhart County to Orville J. and Miriam L. (Moyer) Loucks. On June 26, 1953, he married Donna May (Graham)
and Pleasant Ridge, and was Assistant Pastor at Niles Missionary Church and Prairie View Missionary Church. During his time in Koontz Lake, he volunteered on the Fire Department. Simone D. (Loew) Nunez ‘02, and her husband, Refugio E. Nuñez-Peña, were killed in an automobile accident on Memorial Day, May 27, 2019, in Fulton County, Ohio. Simone, age 42, was born in Dettelbach, Bavaria, Germany, on Dec. 14, 1976. At the age of six, the family immigrated to Canada and there, she graduated from St. David Catholic Secondary School. In 1994 they moved to the United States and she then received her Associate Degree from Ancilla College; a Bachelor of Science and MBA were attained at Bethel College. For the past five years, she has been a quality engineer for Zimmer Biomet of Warsaw and holds many certifications. Family was everything to them and they enjoyed life together. Simone and Refugio traveled across the globe and shared many camping trips as a
preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Norman Bridges. Phillip was a retired teacher with the Oregon-Davis School Corporation. He taught 4th grade for 32 years at Oregon- Davis Elementary, where he was a member of the Oregon- Davis Classroom Teachers Association. Phillip was also a member of Koontz Lake Missionary Church, Gideons International, Monday Night Pickers Blue Grass Band and a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam Era. Dr. Wesley Gerig , age 88, passed away June 9, 2019. He graduated from South Side High School in 1948 and Fort Wayne Bible College in 1951. He received advanced degrees from Fuller Theological Seminary and the
He enjoyed his career as a computer programmer/ analyst. He was a member of Nappanee Missionary Church and the ESPMen’s group. As part of his church activities, a particular highlight was visiting the AGC Baby Center in Kenya. Tony was also a Civil War buff, and was proud to share he had visited Gettysburg an impressive 10 times. He was an avid Notre Dame fan and enjoyed holding season football tickets
